Our Food Safety Standards: How We Keep Your Meals Safe
When you eat food someone else prepared, you're placing trust in their standards. We take that seriously. Food safety isn't a box we tick — it's built into everything we do. Here's exactly how we keep your meals safe, from kitchen to door.
MPI-Registered and Food Control Plan Compliant
Our kitchen operates under a Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) Food Control Plan. This is New Zealand's framework for food-safety management, and it means our processes are documented, controlled and independently audited. It's the same standard serious food businesses are held to — not an informal home setup.
ACC-Approved Supplier (VBI718)
We're an ACC-approved supplier, vendor number VBI718. This matters for food safety because it means our meals meet a standard trusted enough for ACC to fund them for clients in injury recovery — people who may be medically vulnerable. That approval is a meaningful external endorsement of our standards.
Snap-Freezing for Safety
Snap-freezing isn't just about quality — it's a safety method. Freezing rapidly at peak freshness halts the bacterial growth that causes food to spoil, without any need for chemical preservatives. Your meals stay safe for up to 3 months frozen.
Cold-Chain Delivery
Food safety doesn't stop at our door. We pack meals in temperature-controlled packaging that keeps them safe for up to 48 hours in transit, protecting the cold chain all the way to your freezer.
Clear Labelling
Every meal is labelled with its contents, allergen and nutrition information, heating instructions and a best-before date — so you have everything you need to store and prepare it safely.
Your Part at Home
Food safety is a shared responsibility. At home:
- Keep meals frozen until you're ready to use them
- Reheat until piping hot all the way through
- Once defrosted, eat within 3 days and don't refreeze
